Gordon Nechvatal started his career in research in the Medical Products Division of the UK life science company Amersham International (now part of GE). He then moved to the City working as a chemical industry analyst for Savory Milln (now part of UBS). Following this, Gordon worked for a number of years as a strategy consultant for Arthur D. Little and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young in the chemical and life science industries. He has since worked for GlaxoSmithKline in R&D.

Gordon Nechvatal has a chemistry degree from Edinburgh University and a PhD from Imperial College, London.
